HEIW’s Quality and Postgraduate Education Support (PGES) unit works to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care through the monitoring and development of high quality education and training and the provision of a ‘Local Faculty’ infrastructure to support it.

The Unit’s activity is undertaken in close collaboration with Foundation and Specialty Training Programmes and Local Education Providers (LEPs) across NHS Wales. In addition, the Unit works with stakeholders in Deaneries and Local Education and Training Boards to monitor the quality of programmes that include placements for trainees from Wales.
